Book from the Ground

There’s a rather creative book I stumbled upon recently apparently called Book from the Ground “written” by an author apparently called Xu Bing (徐冰).

This book is written conceptually using symbols common to most modern cultures.  Thus, a culturally-literate person from the U.S. could also read this book written by a Chinese artist.

The idea itself is intriguing:  circumventing traditional languages by appealing to other symbols we currently share in our culture vocabulary.  It could be a push towards a global language that has developed naturally as an outgrowth of modernity (especially from the internet’s ability to rapidly disseminate of pop culture symbolism).  I’m curious as to where this idea will lead in the near future.

The Venus Project

I recently saw a talk given by Jacque Fresco (linked below) that alerted me to the existence of the Venus Project.  I am quite intrigued by what the man said and the manner in which he expressed himself (it had a certain genuineness to it that 99% of public speakers seem to lack).  However, I still need, paradoxically, to follow his advice by not following his advice and to investigate for myself what he and his project are all about.

I hope this project gives me hope for humanity’s future.
